THE VEIL
Written By Emily Dibblee
It is not uncommon for people to turn to the past for cover and comfort. In reviewing photographs from her decades-old archives, photographer S. Kay Young began to recognize the role the shadow has played in her work throughout the years. In her most recent series "The Veil" Young turns to her own shadow to "explore colors, everything and nothing". She finds comfort in the shadows as they contain something from those who have walked before. By turning her lens to the Veil, the shadows become shapeshifters, a vision of our Ancestors projected onto the earth and sending their love through color.
